Official "National League Player's Contract," dated February 24, 1922, between Arthur Fletcher and the Philadelphia Baseball Club. Signed on the interior in black fountain pen by team president William Baker and Fletcher. Also signed by a witness. The four-page agreement calls for Fletcher to receive a salary of $7,000 for the 1922 season. Additionally, per the handwritten clause below the signatures, Fletcher was to receive an additional $1,000 for acting as captain of the club at the end of the season. The 1922 season was Fletcher's last as a player. He finished with a .280 batting average and a career-high seven home runs. The following season, Fletcher assumed the role of manager for the Phillies, guiding the club for the next four years. The contract (8-1/2 x 11 inches) displays two horizontal folds (there are two tears along the folds). Very Good condition overall. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA.
