Description

Program and ticket stub from Game 5 of the 1925 World Series between the Washington Senators and Pittsburgh Pirates on October 12 at Griffith Stadium. The Pirates defeated the Senators 6-3 behind Vic Aldridge's complete game, staving off elimination. The 1925 World Series program issued in Washington is one of the most condition-sensitive of all early World Series programs. It is rarely found in high-grade due to the very thin, easily damaged quality of its interior pages. The program, produced by National Photo Company of Washington, D.C., is a particularly ambitious effort, including 64 sepia-toned pages packed with literally hundreds of photos. The program features managers Bucky Harris and Bill McKechnie on the cover. The program, which is not scored, is missing several pieces from the front cover. Pages 29-36, while completely detached from the spine, are present. Fair condition overall. The ticket stub (2-1/8 x 4-1/2 inches) exhibits scattered creasing and multiple spots of discoloration. Fair condition overall. Total: 2 items (1 program and 1 ticket stub).
