Description

Collection of twenty vintage news photos dating from the 1920s to the 1940s, all but two picturing a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Sizes range from 5 x 7 inches to 8 x 10 inches, with fourteen of the photos having a "historicimages.com" sticker affixed to the reverse. Each photo displays a news service credit stamp on the reverse. All the photos display flaws common to news photos, including (but not limited to), edge tears, creases, and editorial markings on the front and/or reverse. In Good to Very Good condition overall. The players represented in this collection, with the number of photos for each player (if more than one) noted in parentheses, are as follows: Appling (action shot tagging Joe Gordon), Averill (sliding photo), Cochrane, E. Collins (wearing a one-year style uniform in 1926), Combs, Dickey (2), Gehringer (4), Gordon (action shot tagging Rudy York), Hornsby and Sisler (pictured together with the Braves in 1928), T. Jackson, G. Kelly, Maranville (pictured together with Hank Gowdy), Mize, C. Travis, New York Giants sluggers (Medwick, Ott, Weintraub, and Lombardi), and one unidentified Giants player. Total: 20 photos. Please note that these photos have not been reviewed for type designations so no guarantees as to exact type classification can be made.
