Lot # 2421: 1999 New York Yankees World Championship Pendant

Rare New York Yankees pendant, produced by Balfour, issued in commemoration of the club's 1999 World Championship season. The 14K-gold pendant, which is nearly identical in design to the front of the club's 1999 World Championship ring, is one of the most impressive and generously diamond-studded pieces of jewelry ever produced. Twenty-five small diamonds decorate the team's familiar "NY" logo on the front, which in turn rests upon a blue stone. Approximately 48 small diamonds surround the logo. The year "1999" is displayed on the pendant's bezel. "Balfour 14K" is engraved on the reverse. These pendants were produced exclusively for the players' wives and female staff members (although not all received one), and they are actually rarer than their ring counterparts. This is not only the first example of a 1999 Yankees World Championship pendant we have offered, but just the second we can recall seeing at public auction. It is also one of the most attractive pendants dating from club's late 1990s to early 2000s dynasty. Near Mint condition. Together with a 22-inch gold chain stamped 14k (which needs to be repaired).
