Description

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Extremely attractive high-grade example of #25 Babe Ruth from the "Sports & Games In Many Lands" set issued by Imperial Tobacco Co. with its W. A. & A. C. Churchman tobacco brand. Issued in England, this beautiful full-color tobacco issue of 25 different subjects includes representation of all types of athletes (boxing, football, tennis, track, etc.). Ruth is the only representative of American baseball. The card features a full-color scene of Ruth in a swinging follow-through pose, with a short description of the scene on the reverse. It is interesting to note this card was produced with the same image as the Shonen Club Japanese postcard. This card has vibrant colors, outstanding registration, strong corners, and excellent centering. Clean reverse. Few cards of Ruth date from the 1920s. This extremely unusual, high-grade Babe Ruth card represents a remarkable value in comparison to gum cards of him from the 1930s.
