Vintage news photo capturing Babe Ruth being greeted at the plate by Lou Gehrig after hitting a three-run home run in Game 3 of the 1927 World Series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type III photograph by PSA/DNA. Per PSA/DNA, this "photo is a period example that was made from a duplicate negative." We sold a Type I example of this photo as Lot 1998 in our 2018 Fall auction. The reverse displays an "Underwood & Underwood" credit stamp, tape residue and staining, and scattered spots of discoloration. The photo (10 x 8 inches) is missing three corners, has multiple edge tears, and has a pair of tack holes along the right border. While technically in Poor condition overall, the photo retains excellent clarity.
