Description

Houston Astros home jersey worn by utilityman Marty Martinez during the club's 1971 season. Graded A9 by MEARS. The white flannel jersey is lettered "Astros" with the team's "shooting star" logo situated above. The team's patch is on the left sleeve, and the number "14" appears on the reverse. All letters and numerals are appliqued in orange felt on navy tackle twill. A "Wilson 40" label is situated on the left front tail. The year is chain-stitched in black directly below the manufacturer's label. MEARS has noted in its letter of opinion that there is evidence of the player's name removed on the reverse, which is responsible for the one-point deduction. The jersey is otherwise original as issued. It presents exceptionally well and displays moderate wear overall. Graded A9 by MEARS (base grade of 10 with one point deducted for name on reverse removed). Full LOA from MEARS.
