Description

Boston Red Sox home jersey worn by Hall of Fame outfielder Carl Yastrzemski in 1976. Evaluated as Superior by SGC/Dave Grob, their highest rating. Photomatched by Resolution Photomatching to an undated 1976 image. The white knit jersey is lettered "Red Sox" on the front and features the number "8" on the reverse. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in red on blue tackle twill. Both a "McAuliffe" label and "42" size tag appear in the collar. A "1976" year tag and laundry tag are located on the exterior center front tail. A Massachusetts Bicentennial patch appears on the left sleeve, along with a black armband, in memory of the passing of Red Sox executive Tom Yawkey on July 9. The jersey, which is completely original, is unaltered and displays moderate-to-heavy use. "Yaz" enjoyed another solid year in 1976, totaling 21 home runs and 102 RBI. One of the greatest players in Red Sox history, Yastrzemski is one of only a few players in all of baseball to amass over 400 home runs and 3,000 hits. Numbered among his many other individual accomplishments and awards are three batting titles, a home run title, a Triple Crown, an MVP Award and seven Gold Glove Awards. Today, his number "8" is among the few ever retired by the Red Sox. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1989. Full LOA from Dave Grob/SGC. Photomatch LOA from Resolution Photomatching.
