Description

Kirby Puckett Louisville Slugger signature-model "S226" bat, dating from his 1989 season with the Minnesota Twins. Graded GU 9 by PSA/DNA. The cupped-end bat, which features a handle crack, displays evidence of outstanding use, including numerous ball marks (with blue ink transfers), ball stitch impressions, and cleat marks. There is a moderate coat of pine tar on the upper handle. Puckett's number ("34") is written in red marker on the knob and top barrel in silver paint pen. In 1989, Puckett led the league in batting average (.339) and hits (215), while also earning All-Star, Gold Glove, and Silver Slugger honors. Although his career was brief (1984-1995), his accomplishments were many, including one batting title, ten All-Star Game appearances, six Gold Glove Awards, and eight seasons of batting .300 or better. He also led the Twins to two World Championships over that span. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2001. Length: 34.75 inches. Weight: 31.5 ounces. Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
