Vintage news photo capturing Joe DiMaggio as a member of the San Francisco Seals in 1933. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type IV photo by PSA/DNA. This photo was used to create what is perhaps the rarest of all Joe DiMaggio trade cards: his 1935 Pebble Beach Clothiers postcard. The postcard series, issued by a local clothier, featured a select number of PCL players from the three Bay Area teams in the league at the time: the San Francisco Seals, the Oakland Oaks, and the Mission Reds. Today, only seven cards from the series are checklisted in the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards. While we will never know for certain why the company used a photo of DiMaggio taken two years earlier for its promotional postcards, there is no ambiguity concerning its aesthetic appeal. The reverse features a "United Press International" credit stamp, a few editorial notations, and evidence of album removal. The photo (7 x 9 inches) is in Very Good condition overall. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
