Description

Highly desirable first issue of Sports Illustrated, published on August 16, 1954. Graded 7.5 by CGC. The issue is complete with the three-page fold-out of twenty-seven 1954 Topps insert cards. The cards, which were a special promotion prepared in conjunction with Topps, make this first issue of all the greater note to collectors. Interestingly, Sports Illustrated saved dozens of boxes of the first issue in its archives. Finally, in 1994, it released the entire inventory to the collecting community.
