Original Murray Olderman cartoon artwork (mixed media on coquille board). Signed by the artist along the base. The artwork pictures Hall of Fame slugger Mickey Mantle standing atop the barrel of a bat that reads "M.V.P." The artist has inscribed "Good luck, Mickey - Murray" along the bottom edge. Murray Olderman was an American sports cartoonists and writer (he worked for the Newspaper Enterprise Association from 1952 to 1987). Today, he is best remembered as the creator of the artwork that hung above the player's bust at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This artwork was originally purchased at the special Mickey Mantle auction conducted by Guernsey's on December 8, 2003, at Madison Square Garden in New York City; the original Guerney's auction sticker remains affixed to the front of the plastic shrink-wrapping. Dimensions: 9.25 x 20.25 inches. Very Good condition overall. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
