1908 second edition, revised, of Baseball In Cincinnati by Harry Ellard. This is one of the most important early baseball historical books, and a key addition to any world-class baseball library. The 277-page volume (self-published by the author) is packed with information regarding the rich history of baseball, especially as it relates to Cincinnati, and is heavily illustrated with photographs, many found nowhere else. The publication of this volume was obviously a labor of love for Ellard, as no expense was spared, from the use of slick stock for the photographic plates, many of them full-page, to the elaborately designed red and black hard cover. It is of the highest quality production, and the definitive volume of its type regarding baseball in Cincinnati in the nineteenth century. The dozens and dozens of high-quality photographs add to the already high esteem with which it is held in the eyes of serious collectors and scholars. The book (6 x 9.25 inches) has the name of a former owner written in pencil on the front flyleaf. There is a small surface abrasion on the cover. Very Good condition overall.
