Lot # 2147: Circa 1930s Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig Signed Thorne Studios Photograph - JSA

Offered here is an original Thorne Studios photograph capturing New York Yankees Hall of Famers Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig posing together on the field. Amazingly, the original owner of the photo was lucky enough to obtain the signatures of both players on the front after the photo was developed. Both signatures have been scripted in black fountain pen and are preceded by a salutation. Ruth has written "Hoping your well - hit one some day - From Babe Ruth," while Gehrig has added "Hello Buzz - Best Wishes - from Lou Gehrig." A "Thorne Photo" credit stamp appears on the reverse. (Thorne Studios was one of several photography studios used by the Yankees to take official publicity/reference photos for the club.) The photo (6-3/4 x 5 inches), which is trimmed on the left border, displays a few light creases, four tack holes (not affecting either signature), and a pencil notation ("Ruth Field") on the reverse.
