Exceedingly rare Boston Red Sox ticket stub issued for Game 5 of the 1912 World Series held at Fenway Park on October 12. Encapsulated and certified "Authentic" by PSA. This is one of only two 1912 World Series Game 5 full tickets listed in the PSA Population Report, and aside from those two examples we have never seen another. Many historians consider the 1912 World Series, which is the only World Series in history to feature a deciding Game 8, one of the most exciting Series ever played. (A few other World Series went eight games, but they were all best of nine; the 1912 was best of seven, but included one tie.) Four of the games were decided by one run, and two games went into extra innings. In another tight game, Giants ace Christy Mathewson lost a 2-1 decision to Hugh Bedient, which gave Boston a commanding 3-1 lead in the Series (Game 2 ended in a tie). The ticket stub (1-3/8 x 2-3/4 inches) displays moderate handling wear and heavy creasing. An outstanding example of this World Series rarity.
