Rare publication (7 x 5.25 inches) titled Souvenir Record Book - World's Championship Series - 1919, featuring photos and career statistics of the 1919 World Series participants. This is the just the sixth example we have ever offered in the past 22 years, which makes it many times rarer than a 1919 World Series program. Its scarcity is almost certainly due to its limited, regional distribution. This elaborate souvenir booklet was available for sale only in Chicago during the 1919 World Series. It provides a great deal of information about the players, as well as full-page photographs of some Chicago players (including manager Kid Gleason, Eddie Collins, Eddie Cicotte, and Buck Weaver) and several group shots of Reds players. Most of the pages are devoted to detailed statistical and biographical information about the players. Armed with this 36-page souvenir booklet, a fan could enjoy the game with greater insight, but at 25 cents, apparently few were sold. All material related to the 1919 "Black Sox" scandal is highly prized by collectors. This is a very substantial 1919 World Series item that ironically (probably due to its great rarity) has been somewhat overlooked by collectors but is truly one of the great prizes related to the legendary 1919 World Series. The softcover book has been professionally bound in black cloth-covered boards, with the title and year stamped on both the cover and spine. The interior pages are bright, crisp, and clean. In apparent Excellent condition.
