Original news photo of Hall of Famer Charlie Gehringer as a member of the Detroit Tigers used in the production of Gehringer's 1936 R318 Batter-Up card. Certified as an original Type I photograph by PSA/DNA. The photo pictures Gehringer in a catching pose. An "International News Photos" credit stamp appears on the reverse, along with the original paper news caption and a few editorial markings. Photos used in the production of trading cards have become increasingly popular in recent years. This is one of only a small number of vintage photos we have seen featuring a player image used in the 1934-1936 R318 Batter-Up set. The photo (6.5 x 8.5 inches) displays a few creases and light stain on the reverse. In Very Good to Excellent condition. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
