Early Philadelphia Phillies scorecard issued for a game at Philadelphia Ball Park in 1909. The unusual "burnt" orange-color cover features an illustration of a generic ballplayer in a batting stance. The staples were removed at some point and the scoring pages are missing. The remaining interior pages feature advertisements for local Philadelphia businesses. The scorecard (6.75 x 10.5 inches) displays a vertical fold line, along with minor edge and handling wear. In Fair to Good condition overall, but it should be noted that the scorecard displays at a far higher level than that suggested by its technically accurate grade. According to our consignor, an advanced Philadelphia-baseball collector, he states "1909 Phillies’ scorecards are scarce in the collecting world. I’ve never seen another example of this scorecard in 30+ years of collecting."
