Description

Collection of 24 original photos featuring Pittsburgh Pirates, dating from the 1910s to the 1950s. Sizes range from 4 x 5 inches to 8 x 10 inches. All of the photos display news credit stamps, original paper news captions, and/or editorial notations on the reverse. The vast majority also display flaws common to news photos, including (but not limited to) edge tears, creases, and editorial markings/shadings on the front. Ranging from Poor to Excellent condition overall. This collection consists of the following: 1) 1910s (3 photos). Al Mamaux (Paul Thompson photo), Fred Mollwitz, and Billy Sunday/Fred Pfeffer. 2) 1920s (16 photos). Babe Adams, Vic Aldridge, Adam Comorosky, George Gibson, three George Grantham, Charlie Grimm, Bill McKechnie, John Morrison, Gifford Pinchot (governor of Pennsylvania), Drew Rader, two Earl "Oil" Smith (one Charles Conlon photo), Glen Wright, and Jimmie Zinn. 3) 1930s (3 photos). Cy Blanton (Charles Conlon photo), Jim Tobin, and Al Todd. 4) 1950s. Cliff Chambers and Al Todd. Total: 24 photos.
