Enormous team panoramic photograph capturing forty-four members of the Pittsburgh Pirates posing together during spring training in 1940. Nearly all of the players are identified in black fountain pen either directly above or below their respective images, including Honus Wagner, Paul Waner, Lloyd Waner, Arky Vaughan, Rip Sewell, Bob Elliott, and team president William Benswanger. The white-letter caption along the base reads "1940 Pittsburgh Pirates, Spring Training, San Bernardino, Calif." The photography credit for C. N. Jackson of Colton, California, appears in the lower right. The photo (37 x 8 inches), which offers exceptional clarity, displays a number of moderate creases (nearly all of which are located in the white border areas) and is in Good condition overall. Mounted and framed to total dimensions of 45.5 x 16.5 inches. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
