Lot # 2946: 1912 Honus Wagner Advertising Scorecard

Promotional fold-over baseball scorecard issued in 1912 by Carl Joseph & Co., of Chicago, Illinois, featuring a full-length image of Honus Wagner on the front. In addition to Wagner's image, the scorecard has portrait images of players and managers on both the National League champion New York Giants and World Champion Philadelphia Athletics, including John McGraw, Christy Mathewson, Rube Marquard, Eddie Plank, Frank Baker, Connie Mack, Chief Bender, and Eddie Collins. Additional portrait images of Wagner, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, and Ed Walsh complete the attractive design. Information on the back of the scorecard includes a listing of the past National and American pennant winners up to the year 1911 (which dates the piece to 1912). The scorecard (13.75 x 5 inches, unfolded) displays a clear tape repair along the fold line. Names are neatly written in pencil along the interior. Fair condition overall.
