Boston Red Caps fold-over scorecard issued for a National League game against the Cleveland Blues in 1881. Research indicates that this game took place on June 1st at Boston's South End Grounds. Boston's short stop Ross Barnes was replaced by future Hall of Famer George Wright for this game. The interior preprinted lineups include Whitney, Sutton, Morrill, Hornung, and Burdock for Boston, and Glasscock, McCormick, Dunlap, Phillips, and Clapp for Cleveland. It is interesting to note that the short stop position in the line up card was left blank with no player's name printed (Barnes' replacement was to be handwritten at the time). The current record for each of the eight teams in the league is featured on the front cover, while the printing on the back cover of the scorecard heralds the upcoming schedule for the eight teams. The scorecard (5-1/2 x 7-1/8 inches), which is not scored, displays heavy creasing, a small tear on the top edge, and scattered staining on the front and back. In Fair condition overall.
