Description

Boston Red Sox home jersey worn by Hall of Fame catcher Carlton Fisk during the 1977 season. Graded A8 by MEARS. The white knit jersey is lettered "Red Sox" across the front and features the number "27" on the reverse. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in red on blue tackle twill. Both a "McAuliffe" label and "44" size tag appear in the collar. A "1977" year tag and adjacent laundry tag appear on the center front tail. The jersey, which is completely original, is unaltered and displays light use. This shirt originated from the family member of a Boston Red Sox player.

1977 was arguably Fisk's best all-around season. Appearing in 152 games, he finished the year with 26 home runs, 102 RBI, and a .315 batting average. (Each of those numbers represent the second-best mark of his career.) One of the greatest catchers in baseball history, Fisk retired in 1993 as the all-time record holder in games caught (2,226) and for home runs as a catcher (351, since surpassed by Mike Piazza). He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2000. Graded A8 by MEARS (base grade of 10, with 2 points deducted for mounting marks). Full LOA from MEARS.
